Yes, I'm still here just not got around to blogging. Sorry about this. The days have been spent in the garden, on the beach, trips to the city and trips to the country, watching all the latest DVD releases from the marvellous service which Norfolk County Library offers - two DVDs for the price of one if hired before 1.00 pm on a Saturday. That's either £2 for a one week hire or £2.50 for two nights for the top titles. I especially enjoyed The Reader - Kate Winslet was brilliant and also love Benjamin Button. This summer is just flying by and I am looking forward to my annual two weeks holiday coming up soon. I have a pile of books to read. I can't wait to savour them and I've already started on the new book by Jane Brocket. Oh and my sister treated me to the Amy Butler book for helping out at her annual summer ice skating show. I was asked to be the narrator and without really thinking about it I agreed to do it. I've never done anything like this before and believe me it was very nerve wrecking but somehow I enjoyed it in the end and the ice skating was lovely. Did I ever tell you that my sister is part of the synchronised figure skating team and British Gold Medal holder, Ice Candy?
Emily is a little treat to myself from the fabulous Vintage Magpie. She is so pretty and vintagey and smells of the most wonderful lavender. My late Mum used to make jointed teddies from German mohair and I know she would have loved this little bunny.
I have also abandoned my other crochet after seeing this most beautiful, retro looking blanket from Wood & Wool stool. Please click on this link as it's really worth a look. I thought long and hard about my choice of yarn and wanted something that would really last and mellow with use and a yarn which offered a wide colour range. I remembered that some time ago, I had sent for Jamieson's sample chart and this is from where I made my choice. Shetland double knit in thirteen shades (one of which is Madder!!) with a natural White background. I just LoVe this sooooooo much and hope it may one day become a family heirloom. I can see it draped over the settee on a chilly winter's night, travelling in Pepper as a large travel rug and coming to the beach with me in September as a work in progress. I 've hired one of these little beach hut beauties in North Norfolk to spend a day crocheting away with family and Alfie. I want to take a traditional picnic with cupcakes, my Roberts radio, plenty of tea in flasks, a few board games (in case the weather's bad) and also take Alfie for a long walk. Pictures will follow. Must go crocheting to do!

I LOVE this blanket!! I can see why you want to do this. I started some granny squares a few years back - my Mum is stitching them up for me ;) I think I had enough for a cushion cover ;) x

I was reading an article in Prima magazine about how relaxing beach huts can be. I always thought they were pokey little things but crikey how wrong I was. I am very jealous of your little outing. Definitely thinking of hiring one next time we go to the coast.
Loving the crochet.

Hello Zoe! I wondered where you had been! Glad to hear all is well. You sound as though your feet haven't touched the ground so it must be time for a break! The new blanket looks lovely but (to my eye...) quite tricky - I hope you enjoy making it. I trust your weather is better than ours in Kent - happy holiday to you!
