I suppose it was inevitable in this day and age but it still makes me mad. I'm up and about a little earlier today as the forecast is good and I have a picnic to make. So I thought I would check email and found that one of my Flickr photos had been favourited. Curiosity always gets the better of me and I have to check the profile of this new viewer of my photos. It made me a little suspicious when I read that this "person" had no photos available to me! I was, however, able to see their other favourites - weird. I immediately blocked this person and removed the innocent photo of mine. It made me feel sick to see my family member's picture added to this group. I will think twice about posting photos of my family now and if I get any further trouble from Flickr "members" I will make my photos private or close my account. Sorry to rant on but I feel so angry. Please let me know if you kind readers have had similar experiences or can offer any advice.

Just found you blog, and love it!

So sorry you've had this experience. I only ever put pictures of my work, garden or places visited on flickr. Sadly I just wouldn't dare put photos of family on there. I don't even put people photos on my blog either. It's so sad isn't it that there are such horrible people out there. Discovered your blog via kitschen pink blog blog by the way.

How awful. I only put my scrapbook layouts and knitting pics on flickr and even that sometimes makes me uneasy. There are some strange people out there but like somebody else said there are 1000's of nice people.
I must say I got a bit freaked out that people can put pics of other people's kids at school concerts etc on Facebook when I found a photo of my son on there. I took it further and the head sent out a letter telling parents it is a matter of child protection and to remove anything immediately.
I took a large amount off my blog last week because I hadn't really thought before that just anybody can see it. I am now just about craft and the occasional bit about the dogs.

That sort of thing always made me feel weird about putting pictures on flickr. I ended up writing on my profile that I block anyone who associates themselves with me and who has bad content on their own. BUT I have had all my pictures on private for a while now...
Don't let it spoil your pictures for everyone else! Especially if this has only happened once.

It IS creepy. I was constantly fighting the battle of people using my photos elsewhere. Then, when a local tourism website took my photos of the autumn and were using them to promote their autumn leaf peeper tours, I took them off. I've since closed that account, and opened a "plain" one just for my Ravelry stuff. People ARE creepy.

All a bit creepy - hope it doesn't stop you blogging, though. This technology is way beyond me and I sympathise. I hope you are enjoying the sunshine.

I tend to block everyone who add me as a contact without even letting a note or short email, saying how the hell did they get me. It's just too annoying to me...Yes, I`m THAT weird. Even stated that at my profile, but found out that ppl don`t really read profiles. *sigh*
One suggestion is that you can select your pics to be private (only you can see them), or extend it to you contacts or family. There's a color system: red (only you), yellow (your contas and or family) and green (everybody.
Oh! By the way! I got here via your Flickr profile, and got there via your coment at Wunderkind Inc.'s pics. =D
Hugs from (not so) sunny Brasil!

You have to be real careful online these days, there are alot of perverts out there. I don't post piccies of family on Flickr, though my hubby does and he has never had any problems. Just be careful pet.
Take care

Oh I've had some creepy people fave pictures of mine. One guy with a ski mask fetish, another faved a picture of my feet. It's the price we pay I guess. I just block the person and move on. I might feel differently if it were a picture of my daughter though.

So sorry you had a bad start to the day, it's very sad that we all have to be so careful. I think a good rant is the least awful thing to do and you know we'll always listen.
I hope the sunshine takes the tarnish off your day. Debs x
p.s. I have been away from blogland for a while and was delighted to see your yummy tealights - I shall have to find a morrisons, just in case there are some left, fingers crossed!

I am really sorry you've had this experience.
But, you are right to rant, and warn others about being very careful what they post on the www.
